Kumarakom, an extremely popular destination for backwater tourism, is one of the must-see places in Kerala. Cruise through the backwater covering the Kuttanadan villages in a house boat is the most interesting part during the visit to the Kumarakom backwaters. An overnight stay in the house boat will be a different experience in itself. Kumarakom bird sanctuary spread over 14 acres is a favourite place for watching migratory birds. Apart from Darters, Herons, Teals, Waterfowls, Cuckoo and Wild Ducks and some migratory birds like the Siberian Stork also found here.
