The Kovalam beach in Thiruvananthauram is one of the longest beaches in Kerala.  It is an active beach with adventurous activities such as parasailing and windsurfing. It is also a preferred spot for sunbathing and witnessing sunrise and sunset.

Kovalam has a 16 km long coastline which is divided into three separate beaches namely, Lighthouse beach, Howwa beach and Crescent beach by rocky outcroppings.  With calm and shallow waters all these beaches offer plenty of leisure options like sunbathing, swimming, catamaran cruising etc. The scenic landscape in the backdrop is very ideal for photography. There are numerous beachfront stores and restaurants which offer exclusive shopping and South Indian food delicacies.
