Chinnar wildlife sanctuary located in Idukki district of Kerala is a picturesque landscape spread over 90.40 sq.km. It is a place known for diverse ecosystem and cool climate. Tropical dry deciduous forest, shola forest and green grassland are unique characteristics of Chinnar sanctuary. It is a known habitat to many species of endangered animals and birds.  It is the only location in Kerala which records the presence of the Star Tortoise, a rare creature living in the wild. It is also a well-known storehouse of different types of flora including rare medicinal plants.

To enjoy the lush greenery, climate as well as diverse flora and fauna, nature enthusiasts can visit the sanctuary from 6am to 6pm on any day of the week.
