Valparai is a notable hill station located 1059 m from the ground level on the Anamalai hills of Western Ghats. The charming destination is surrounded by mountains, meadows, grass lands, valleys, streams, waterfalls, and forest areas. From the foothills one must pass 40 hairpin bends to reach the top. The drive to Valparai from Pollachi passes through Indira Gandhi Wildlife sanctuary, which is a peaceful habitat for elephants, boars, gaur, leopard cat, spotted deer, tiger, and different avian species including great hornbill.  Valparai has many dams and hydro-electrical power plants. Aliyar dam is located at the foothills of Valparai.

 

Nallamudi viewpoint, Aliyar dam, Sholayar dam, Sidhi Vinayagar temple, Balaji temple, Koolangal river, Nirar dam, Monkey falls and Chinna kallar falls are important places to visit in Valparai.
