Vattavada is a beautiful village lying to the eastern side of Western Ghats in the district of Idukki. This hilly village bordering Tamilnad is predominantly famous for a variety of fruits and vegetable cultivation such as apples, oranges, strawberry, guava, plum, pear, gooseberry etc. Though, the geographical changes in habitat and large-scale plantations have caused the forest to disappear along with most of the flora and fauna, a good number of different species of animals and birds can still be seen roaming the area.
Situated at 6500 ft. above the sea-level, this multi-coloured vegetable field enjoys a wholesome climate. There are many trekking and hiking routes, connected to Top slip, Mattuppetty, Kanthaloor and Meesappulimala. Visitors can also opt for jeep safari and jungle camping.
