Mankayam, situated 500 m above the sea level, is an ecotourism spot in the district of Thiruvananthapuram under the Kerala State Forest department.  This is an awesomely green zone. The banks of Mankayam river stretch which starts from Mankayam to Kalakkayam is rich in evergreen and semi-evergreen forest with natural life as well as different types of trees and plants. The Mankayam river which flows through this zone creates charming waterfalls such as Kalakkayam waterfalls and Kurisadi waterfalls in its course down.

Mankayam offers interesting picnic spots and a handful of trekking trails for half day or full day trips. Interested visitors can go for camping also.
