Thirunelli is a beautiful location on the Brhmagiri hills, 32 km away from Mananthavady, blessed with an abundance of greenery in the district of Wayanad. Set against the misty backdrop of the mountains, this ecotourism spot is characterised by rolling hillocks, thick forest, grasslands, and rocky terrains. Trekking is the most popular activity here to know the nature at close quarters. The trek to the top (1608 m above sea level) of the Brahmagiri Hills is a 3-hour laborious task, and it will take minimum 3 hours to touch the top.  If you are lucky, you will spot animals like elephants, gaur etc. enroute

 

With a vast range of mountains in the framework, Thirunelli temple, better known as the Kashi of South, is a well-known temple in Thirunelli. It is believed that a dip in the sacred waters of Papnashini here could wash away all their sins. People in large numbers come here to pray for their forefathers and to take a dip in the sacred waters.
