Margam Kali is a ritual art form performed in group by certain sects of Christian community of Kerala. In this, participants wearing traditional costumes and special ornaments make rhythmic movements to the devotional songs sung in a typical tune. The traditional dress worn by performers are called ‘Chatta and mundu’. Special head gear, Mekka mothiram (special ear ring), bangles on the hand and anklets are so important to the make-up. This is performed mostly at ceremonies, especially, wedding or church festivals. Tough training is required to master this art form.
