Attukal Bhagavathy temple, often referred to as Sabarimala for ladies, is a temple dedicated to goddess Kannaki or Bhadrakali in Thiruvanathapuram, Kerala. Attukal Pongala, solely celebrated by women, is a 10-day religious celebration held at the temple. The main celebration is on the 9th day, on which women in massive number assemble around the temple to cook delicious rice cuisine – Pongal, a sweet dish made of rice, jaggery, ghee and coconut- in earthen pots and offer to Attukal Amma, the goddess of the temple.

Over the years, Attukal Pogala has been recognised as the largest yearly women congregation and it has been marked as Guinness World Record.
